Boutinot’s love affair with the Southern Rhone spans 30 years, the duration of the time they have been making wine in the region. In 2010 they purchased a winery and vineyard in the village of Cairanne and their now 7 vineyards are planted with classic Southern Rhone varietals.
The grapes sourced for this delicious rose were from specific plots near the towns of Tavel and Valréas, that deliver the best grapes with the right balance and flavour profile. The Mediterranean-influenced southern Rhone enjoys a warmer, more stable climate with hot summers and mild winters. This contributes to richer, brighter, higher alcohol wines. The blend is made up of 85% Grenache 10% Cinsault and 5% Syrah. Grenache dominates the blend contributing the bright red fruit character, acidity and alcohol. Syrah contributes structure and spicy notes, while Cinsault brings delicate floral and fruity notes.
Les Cerisiers is made in the same way as the best rosés of Provence, using the ‘rosé de presse’ method as soon as the grapes are picked. This very gentle pressing extracts as much aroma and flavour as possible with the least amount of tannins. The wine is vinified at cool temperatures in stainless steel vats to preserve these delicate aromas and flavours.
An truly gastronomic rosé. A classic salmon pink colour with delicate perfumed aromas of rosehip syrup, wild berry blossoms and cherries on the nose. Full flavoured, ripe yet elegant with textured berry fruit on the palate with a twist of raspberry freshness to lift the finish. Deliciously balanced and extremely moreish.
Serve with grilled fish, vegetable antipasti or gently spiced prawn soup.
