Made from a blend of 70% Grenache Blanc, 15% Rousanne and 15% Field Blend which is the term used for a combination of different grapes grown together, picked and fermented at the same time. This is unique, interesting and amazing value for money – the producer believes they are “The Dogs…” hence the name and rightly so! From Catalunya Nord otherwise known as the Roussillon this wine is distinctly French, a beautiful example of the grape varieties native to this region.
This wine has a bit of oomph to it. It is medium bodied with a slightly floral nose and a hint of minerality. Honeysuckle, peaches and herbs shine through from the Rousanne supported by lovely texture, depth and weight from the Grenache Blanc. A salivating mouth which is slightly saline with juicy pear notes. Soft, round and mouth-filling with a hint of spice on the finish.
Perfect with a joint of ham, rich pate or chicken and apricot tagine. We love this with a selection of foods from our local Lebanese deli – the flavour profile, weight and depth of the wine really stands up to the complexity of flavours in the dishes they create.
