To all of our rose lovers out there…this really is something very special! Although Malbec rose is becoming more popular, a lot of Malbec growers choose to exclusively made red wine as it commands relatively high prices. Los Haroldos however wanted to experiment and we are so glad they did as this is one of the most vibrant, food friendly roses we have ever tried.
The multi award winning Los Haroldos is a family owned, family run winery which has now been passed on through 3 generations. The front of the bottle shows their journey which started with a young man (Don Lolo Falasco) taking bottles of wine into Buenos Aires in the basket on the front of his bicycle to sell. They then followed their dreams and moved to Mendoza to build a winery, it is now full of state of the art winemaking equipment and they are producing a wide range of award winning wines at varying price points. Awarding body Harpers Wine Stars confirms that with their latest vintages “they continue to produce excellent wines with a very good price-quality relationship”, in other words – they are fantastic value for money.
The fruit characteristics jump out of the glass with vibrant strawberry and cherry notes. The has so much more substance than many of the lighter styles of rose but still remains light and refreshing.
If there was ever a food friendly rose then this is it!! Extremely easy to drink on its own but so versatile with food. Try it with feta cheese and watermelon salad or a Spanish platter with Serrano ham, Manchego cheese and olives – it is divine.
