We know how much you love Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc so our Under £10 selection was really important to us. We tried lots and lots of this vibrant wine and although it is commonly thought they all taste quite similar, the differences can actually be quite significant. We chose this one because we felt it really represented what the consumer is looking for, great value with a bright but balanced acidity and intense fruit.
50% of the grapes are grown in the ultra premium Awatere Valley with vineyards located on both sides of the river in 3 sub-regions. The other 50% comes from the equally famous Wairau Valley where the vineyards are slightly warmer. The unique micro-climates from each of these sites mean that they all offer something a little different to the wine, giving it lots of diversity of flavour.
Abundant gooseberry aromas follow through onto the palate where it explodes with a full on citrus zing that is balanced by fantastic texture. The finish is clean, crisp and refreshing.
This wine is so versatile when it comes to food pairings. Seafood is a definite yes and it works with all sorts from oyster, scallops, crab, clams, lobster and ever big meaty barbequed king prawns. The vegetal characteristics mean it works with asparagus, avocado and grilled green peppers. Also perfectly paired with white fish with Thai marinade or with dill or basil.
