South Africa’s interpretation of a Bordeaux blend lovingly crafted from 50% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc, 6%, Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec. Interestingly all of the permitted Bordeaux grape varieties are used in this blend, something that is rarely done in Bordeaux itself now, leading to loads of intensity and complexity in the wine. Grapes are grown at just 10km from the sea allowing a coastal cooling influence and at an altitude of 260 metres above sea level. They are harvested by hand and fermented in French oak “foudre”.
Full to the brim with dark, crunchy Cabernet fruit with dark curranty corners. The palate finishes long, textural with a touch of hoisin and a smoky finish.
Try with barbecued ribs, herby grilled chicken or even thick spicy south east Asian dishes.
